Contractors Get a Raise; NTEU Urges Salary Cap

Last week, the maximum reimbursement for the top five executives of private companies with federal contracts increased some $70,000 to $763,029. This rate is three times higher than the pay of Cabinet secretaries and nearly twice the presidentís salary.

NTEU believes this is outrageous, particularly at a time when the economy is lagging, millions of Americans are unemployed, and the national debt and deficit continue to grow.

NTEU is voicing its strong support for legislation introduced by Rep. Paul Tonko (D-N.Y.) that would lower the ceiling on contractor reimbursement to $200,000.

Bipartisan legislation introduced by Sens. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) and Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) would lower the cap to $400,000, equal to the presidentís salary. Learn more.
