NTEU Shines Harsh Spotlight on Contractor Pay
Instead of focusing on federal employee pay, the media should take note of the sky-high paychecks some federal contractors are earning.

That was President Kelley's message in a letter to the editor of Bloomberg News, which published a story claiming that federal employee income is one of the main contributors to Washington, D.C., leading the nation in income.

The federal government may pay up to $700,000 each to executives of a private firm under contract to the government, Kelley noted. In contrast, "the vast majority of federal employees earn middle class wages, and their pay cannot reasonably be compared with that of either contractors or those on Wall Street," Kelley argued.
