Employees Name FDIC Best Federal Workplace Thanks to workplace improvements secured by NTEU, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) took the top spot in a government-wide survey of employee satisfaction and commitment.


At the FDIC, NTEU won a telework program, flexible schedules, improvements to the pay-for-performance system and a compensation package to keep FDIC pay competitive with the private sector.

On the other end of the spectrum, the Department of Homeland Security reprised its place as one of the lowest ranked federal agencies. In addition, the Securities and Exchange Commission saw a sharp decline from third place in 2007 to 27th place in this year's rankings. President Colleen M. Kelley attributed both trends to instances where agency leadership was not listening to employee voices and not working with NTEU to implement changes. More
